I started my career as a mechanic back in 1994 in a small workshop and have spent decades working across the industry. Over the years, finding the next job was always harder than it should have been. Generic job platforms would return results full of refrigeration mechanics, diesel technicians, and trades that had nothing to do with what I was looking for. The filters just weren’t built for us.
I’d had the idea for this site for years — a platform built specifically for mechanics, with filters that actually make sense for our trade. And then it hit me that it could work in reverse too — why not let workshops search for mechanics instead of waiting for applications to roll in?
The other thing that always frustrated me was recruiters. They act as a middleman between you and the workshop, and if you don’t have a polished resume, you’re already at a disadvantage. Let’s be honest — most mechanics are far better with their hands than they are with a keyboard. And to make it worse, recruiters rarely give you the workshop’s details directly, so you’re always going through someone who doesn’t really understand the trade.
So here we are. Mechanic Jobs Australia — built by a mechanic, for mechanics. The site is still a work in progress and I won’t pretend it’s perfect, but I’m committed to making it the best it can be. No recruiters, no middlemen — just direct connections between mechanics and the workshops looking for them.
